Research Services

Optional services that extend the research workspace without taking ownership away.

Future online services may keep selected resources current, improve discovery and make sharing easier, while projects remain local and usable without a subscription.

A first-party Research API

A Scripture Mapper API is technically feasible and is now part of the service roadmap. Its first purpose would be dependable access to versioned, provenance-rich records for people, places, events, citations and dataset updates.

The API would serve public-domain, openly licensed or separately authorised material. It would not become a back door for redistributing publisher-restricted Bible or commentary text.

Possible service areas

  • Regularly updated historical, geographical and archaeological datasets
  • Versioned records with provenance, licence and revision information
  • Premium resource discovery, concordance search and approved connectors
  • Optional encrypted synchronisation and online publishing
  • Institutional resource access and shared teaching collections

Bring your own key

Advanced users may connect services they already subscribe to. Access remains governed by the user’s provider account and the publisher’s terms.

Built in careful stages

The sensible first release is a read-only metadata and dataset service. Accounts, private sync, publishing and paid entitlements should follow only after security, retention and recovery processes have been tested.

Not a condition of ownership

Cancelling an optional service should not remove access to local projects or to the purchased desktop version.
